Fish Fossils

The first fish and indeed the first vertebrates were the Ostracoderms. Ostracoderms appeared about 510 million years ago and became extinct about 350 m.y.a. Ostracoderms were jawless fish found mainly in fresh water. They were covered with a bony armour and were often less than 30 cm in length.

The significant extent of soft tissue Preservation Priscacara is perhaps the most popular of the Green River fish fossils. the name Priscacara means "primitive head"Among the two species, liops and serrata serrata is uncommon.
